Varicose veins are swollen veins that are enlarged. They can appear blue or dark purple and can be lumpy. They can cause aching and uncomfortable legs. Suffers can complain of swollen feet and ankles as well as muscle cramps in the legs. With many NHS trusts not treating them due to funding issues it is becoming increasingly difficult for suffers to find help.
